Assignment 2 for Grades K-2-Shapes

Assignment posted for April 6th
Try to get it turned in by the end of the week.

Hello Artists!
I miss you all so much! Today we are going to talk about organic and geometric shapes.  Geometric shapes are shapes that have perfectly straight lines or are perfectly round or oval. Geometric shapes usually have some type of name like parallelogram, trapezoid, square, or triangle. We find a lot of geometric shapes of things that are man-made, for example; wheels, tables, clocks, books, rugs, cupboards, TV's etc. Organic shapes are shapes that use curvy lines and they don't have specific names for their shape.  Organic shapes are found in nature.  For example, some organic shapes would be blades of grass, flowers, rocks, branches etc. Here are three posters that feature organic and geometric shapes:

Please watch the following video that will either review geometric shapes for you or introduce you to some new shapes:

Your assignment is to choose something in your home or yard that has a geometric shape and something that has an organic shape.  After you have chosen those two things, I want you to draw them side by side and see how they are different.  Make sure you include detail in your work. Feel free to use a stencil or a ruler/straight edge for your geometric shape. Please upload a picture of your assignment into your google/gmail file with your name next to it or on your paper.

Supplies needed: an object that is a geometric shape when drawn and an object that is an organic shape when drawn, Any chosen drawing utensils and paper
Objective: To compare and contrast a geometric shape and an organic shape by drawing them side by side.
